DSD Board Meeting - New Book Banning Policy

Hi friends!

DSD is revising their Sensitive Materials Policy to comply with Utah's new sensitive materials law. A draft version of the policy is available here: https://meetings.boardbook.org/Documents/WebViewer/914?file=2bd15f90-e881-45a0-b266-5268ce0f3522

We are still reviewing the current draft. But based on our initial read, we are concerned this new policy will make it even easier for people to ban even more books.

The draft policy will be up for a second and final reading at the DSD school board's August 6 meeting.

Please mark your calendars and plan on attending the August 6 meeting to share your thoughts on the policy. In between now and then, we'll send out more information with talking points and suggestions on how you can help make sure the final policy supports our students' right to read.
