The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of primarily African-American military pilots and airmen who fought in World War II.  They were the first African-American military aviators in the U.S. armed forces.  Trained on five airfields surrounding Tuskegee University in Alabama, their training was the first de-segregated training to take place within a segregated U.S. military.  It became the first dramatic move forward to racial and social equality within America.  The presentation will cover the history of the formation of the Tuskegee Airmen, the unit’s wartime accomplishments and the unit’s overall effect on American society.
