I believe that libraries are for everyone. The books, displays, and activities at our local libraries should reflect the diversity of the all of the patrons.
I am asking that you amend Okefenokee Library System’s Constitution as follows:
Okefenokee Regional Library System Board of Trustees Constitution
Article III: Purpose, Section 3.
No person shall, on the basis of race, sex, creed, cultural background or national origin, heritage, education, beliefs, race, income, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or physical or mental capabilities, be excluded from participation in the programs, activities, or benefits of nor be denied full access to the facilities of the Okefenokee Regional Library System.
Why is this important?
Everyone should take a stand against bias and discrimination. Certain churches are seeking to exclude people from utilizing the facilities, content, program, and activities of the library based on their beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
